Delhi Gears Up for New Year: Hotels 70% Booked, “Outstation Celebrations” Gain Popularity Amid Pollution Concerns

Delhi is all set to welcome the New Year with grand celebrations. With just two days remaining, excitement is palpable among the city’s residents, especially the youth. Hotels, restaurants, pubs, and bars across the capital are preparing to make December 31 unforgettable, with live music, colorful lighting, and gourmet delicacies.

Advance Bookings and Changing Trends
According to Girish Oberoi, General Secretary of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), nearly 70% of rooms in major Delhi hotels are already booked. Many establishments are arranging live performances and special dishes for their guests, while some are offering exclusive discounts to retain loyal customers.

However, this year, the celebration trend is shifting slightly. Club owner Ashish Goyal of Greater Kailash reports that advance bookings are lower compared to previous years, largely due to rising pollution levels in Delhi. Many are now opting for outstation celebrations, choosing to ring in the New Year outside the city.

Sandeep Anand Goyal, Head of the Delhi chapter of the National Restaurant Association of India, added that while restaurants are busy preparing for the festivities, special attention is being given to safety standards, which are under continuous scrutiny by authorities.

High Hopes for the Market
Delhi traders are optimistic about a significant boost to business on New Year’s Eve. Vipin Ahuja, President of CAIT Delhi, noted that new menus are being curated in pubs and clubs to attract partygoers. Changing lifestyles and heightened enthusiasm among the youth are expected to drive substantial turnover, potentially amounting to crores of rupees for the local market.
